Last weekend was the 2007 Rails Rumble a 48-hour programming contest.
I decided a few weeks ago I'd have a go, and pulled a random app idea out of my ideas notebook, then I forgot about it. Unfortunately I doubled-booked myself for all day Saturday (and a decent part of Sunday morning) but thankfully due to timezones I still had 14 hours left (15 after a one hour extension was granted to all the participants), so I thought i'd still have a go, doubtful that my rails-fu was up to getting anything developed in this time.
In the end I'm quite pleased with what I accomplished in such a short time, and slightly gutted I didn't spend the entire weekend on it - you can see the fruits of my labour at bitlocker.railsrumble.com or you can register to vote at vote.railsrumble.com.
I'm going to continue to work on this app once voting is over, and I'll definitely be competing again next year.
